02.06.08: RELEASE CONCERT IN BERGEN A SUCCESS
Helheim played had the official release concert for Kaoskult on Friday 30th of May, and both the audience and the band reported to have a great time!

Thanks to both the support acts, 'Byfrost' and 'Of No Consequence', the evening was complete.

Helheim was supported on stage by Rolf Royce (Hellhikers) and Bjørnar (Vulture Industries), who did choirs and majestic clean vocals for the occasion. They both appeared in Munk Cloaks (really warm), and were close to death in the 50 degress on stage.

Tor-Kristian Liseth did some real good VJ (Video Jockey) shows in the background while Helheim performed on stage; we appreciate the effort!

We will release some live footage and video of the event here on helheim.com and on myspace.com/helheimnorway in the near future.

30.05.08: HELHEIM ANNOUNCE NEW GUITARIST
Noralf

Following the departure of Guitarist Thorbjørn, Norwegian Viking Metallers HELHEIM have announced that his replacement will be SYRACH guitarist Noralf, who had filled in for his predecessor during the band's recent European tour. Thorbjørn's decision to leave the band was taken after he felt that he wanted to concentrate more on other projects based on 70's Metal/Rock.

In a statement issued today, drummer Hrymr said, "We are truly sorry that Thorbjørn has decided to leave the band. He has been a central part of HELHEIM since he joined us in 1999. We owe many fantastic riffs and great ideas to that weird mind of his! Along with Lindheim and others he intends to focus on his project SINKING SEA, and we wish him great success for the future. On a positive note though, we have not had to go through a long process to find his replacement. Noralf is a fantastic guitarist, and he has already played and toured with us, so we know that he is the right person for the band. This will not affect his work with SYRACH, and we are very happy he decided to join us permanently; we consider ourselves fortunate to get him".

HELHEIM caused a stir recently when they launched their sixth album "Kaoskult" in a Norwegian Kindergarten, where they played a shortened acoustic set to the children. Commented Hrymr "We had absolutely no idea when we set out to do it, that it would have been so positively received world-wide. To us it seemed like a great way to launch "Kaoskult" by doing something that would teach the new generation about their Norse heritage. It appears to have struck a chord with many, many people on all levels. From fans who wished their own education systems would allow them to explore different types of music, to people who applauded the idea of teaching children about their heritage, and doing it in a way that made it interesting and fun".

Three tracks from "Kaoskult" are available for free download on HELHEIM's MySpace page at www.myspace.com/helheimnorway.

Below is the video for HELHEIM's "Jernskogen" taken from the album "Blod & Ild" which was the first full-length album to feature Thorbjørn.

28.05.08: THORBJøRN MOVES ON...
Thorbjørn We are truly sorry to say that Thorbjørn has left Helheim. He has been a central piece in Helheim since he joined in 1999. Many fantastic riffs and great ideas has come from his weird mind.

Now he will focus on his other musical project, Sinking sea (Click here to visit their webpage) with Lindheim and others.

We wish you good luck, and hope you will succeed with Sinking Sea!

21.04.08: HELHEIM RELEASE CONCERT AT KLOSTERET KINDERGARTEN
Helheim live in klosteret kindergarten
Helheim had their release concert in 'Klosteret Barnehage' today. They wanted to do a different kind of release concert to mark the new album 'Kaoskult'.

They played for the oldest kids in the kindergarten, and the response was fantastic! The kids were introduced to several stories from Norse Mythology by Odin himself (greatly impersonated by Rolf Royce of Hellhikers who did guest vocalist for the event). Helheim have a genuine wish to spread the knowledge of Norse Mythology, and there is no better place to start than with the young children.

Hrymr was able to explain the reason for this event into a single sentence: "We need to let Metal and Odin catch the kids before Jesus does!".

Video of the concert will be available at helheim.com in a short while, meanwhile check out the TV report available on various webtv (in Norwegian.. click on the addresses below):

17.04.08: 4/5 POINTS IN KERRANG! FOR KAOSKULT
Kerrang front
The world's biggest selling weekly rock magazine (their own slogan), KERRANG!, has reviewed 'Kaoskult' and awarded it 4/5 points. Again we are really happy about the fantastic feedback!

Check out KERRANGs webpage: http://www.kerrang.com

"Forming shortly after Enslaved, Norwegians Helheim were amongst the very first wave of bands to mix searing black metal with viking themes. Now on their sixth album they still hold to that same starting point although Kaoskult is slower, darker and far more epic than anything they've done before. The lyrics are mostly back to Norwegian, but as vocalists V'gandr and H'grimnir largely sound like they're hawking up badgers, the distinction is largely moot anyway. The music, though, is stately and grandiose, still possesed of a blackfire bite but now with a more progressive and measured gait." -Paul Travers

11.04.08: 5/6 IN THE FIRST NORWEGIAN REVIEW OF KAOSKULT

The "Behind the gates of Helheim"-project is an ambitous and hairy goal to give our fans and critics a possibility to get a peak into what is going on with Helheim besides stage performances. We want to give our audience a view into rehearsals, studio performances, backstage, etc.

23.03.08: LAST TOUR BLOG - IN NURNBERG - GERMANY
The tour poster
Ok, so the tour is over for this time. We really had a blast. Kudos to both Vulture Industries and Dark Fortress for a perfect cooperation, I hope that we can do a leg 2 of the tour.

Yesterday was Leipzig, a really good evening for all the bands. What a great way to end the tour! Huge crowd in Hellraiser, and lots of Helheim fans supporting us all the way. I guess this was the best gig on this tour for us.

So, now we only have to wait in Nurnberg till 25th of March, when our flight leaves for Norway. We are staying at the organizer of the Metal Eggs Festival..s home. This festival was as mentioned cancelled, and thus we have nothing else to do until our flight leaves than to put all our partying knowledge to use.

Well, thanks a lot to you guys who have followed us either as audience on the concerts, or through these tour blogs!!

Regards, Helheim

21.03.08: TOUR BLOG #6 - IN LUBECK - GERMANY
The tour poster
So, we are getting close to the end of the tour... feels bad. But, we are really looking forward to these two lasts shows, we have great expectations for them.

Tonight we play in Lubeck, at Treibsand, a club that looked like a shit-hole from the outside, but it is truly a really great venue on the inside. Nice people working here, great backstage and a good sound tech. We expect a lot of people these two nights since it is Easter weekend, and since the tour package has shown its ability to draw a lot of people in Germany.

We still have some few 'Kaoskult' pre-release CDs left on the tour, but you need to be quick to get hold of one!

Ok, I will do a final blog after the last two shows to tell how things went... until then, stay metal!!

18.03.08: TOUR BLOG #5 - IN USTER - SWITZERLAND
The tour poster
Then Switzerland was on the menu. Tonight we played at Rock city in Uster, a small, but cool club. Suits us well on the weekdays. Really good merchandize sales on this tour for us, we are out of stock on several items and have few items left of the rest,...really positive, but also a source of concern since we still have 3 more concerts to do on this tour (The whole Metal Eggs festival has unfortunately been completely cancelled..). So,... if you are to get some of the stuff we brought on any of these concerts, you got to be quick, this also applies to the pre-sale CDs of Kaoskult that we do on this tour ;)

We already have a nice and fully professional webshop up and running, we were on the verge to announce it before leaving for the tour, but due the stock uncertainity after the tour, we decided to wait till straight after the tour with the "grand" opening. So check helheim.com after the 25th.

What this means for you is that you will be able to order any Helheim merchandize at fantastic prizes after the tour if there is something special you would like to have; girlies, t-shirts, longsleeves, hoodies, CDs, you name it. We are really looking forward to this.

Tomorrow we have an endless drive to Rotterdam, Our minds are used to the vans now, but our knees and backs are not, but there is nothing a couple of beers can not cure I guess :)

Right now I am watching a drunk Bjørnar from Vulture Industries painting his whole face with corpse paint, just for the fun of it. Pictures will definitely come later!!

The remaining three shows are:

Mar 20 2008 Little Devil - Tilburg - The Netherlands
Mar 21 2008 Treibsand - Lübeck - Germany
Mar 22 2008 Hellraiser Fest - Leipzig - Germany

16.03.08: TOUR BLOG #4 - FROM SALZBURG - AUSTRIA
The tour poster
So, then we have two days off from the tour, nice. The first day we had off, both Hrymr and Vgandr lured themselves into the tequila trap... not very smart, but it was a great evening though!

Yesterday we played in Salzburg, at the ARGEkultur venue, together with 7-8 other bands (also Dark Fortress played) the festival was headlined by Aborted. This was a large venue, with a professional crew. We played quite early, around 1900, but it was already a full house (the venue took around 1000 people), and the atmosphere was great while we played... I guess we tend to enjoy the large stages from time to time, gives us a lot of space to do our show on.

We were all a bit surprised at the amount alcohol consumption at the festival, we have always thought that we norwegians are the guys being most drunken at these kind of happenings,.. but no, we are far from beating these Austrian guys. When we arrived at around 1700, lots of people were already beyond repair... cool!!

Now, back to the sofa and relax with some Zoombie movies. Stay tuned!

14.03.08: TOUR BLOG #3 - IN INGOLSTADT - GERMANY
The tour poster
Okey, Essen is done. In the last blog I estimated around 50-60 people showing up due to the fact that it was a Tuesday, and that it was during one of the worst storms in a long time in Germany... But, luckily, I am quite bad at making estimates.. When we played, 150 souls were enjoying our metal music! This tour does not end to surprise me, and we are all very happy we made a great effort to complete the tour despite all the trouble we experienced while planning it.

Right now we are finished playing in Ingolstadt, at Paradox metal club. I must admit we were quite sceptical at first, the venue seemed kind of unprepared for the concert, but again, things are different than they seem. A lot of people showed up again, and all the bands made real good gigs.

Now we are again emptying bottles of beer in the bar, it is hard not to drink after a show... The logic is as follows: If you we do a great show we drink because we are happy, if we do a lousy show, we drink to forget... so there is no escape :) And, tonight we are happy!

Again... more pictures WILL come.. that is a promise!

12.03.08: TOUR BLOG #2 - IN ESSEN
The tour poster Okey, okey, back on track. We headed for London after a great evening in Rotterdam, with lots of people showing up early in the day on a Sunday :) But the trip to London was far from straight forward due to the terrible weather, the Calais-Dover ferry was not going, and we were given tickets for the Eurotunnel. At the tunnel the queues were of course very long, and we were not in England before 1800, and the doors at the club opened at 1900..... We drove like hell, and were present at the club around 1930. The cool thing is that 50 minutes later, Vulture Industies were on the stage playing, ... Seems like we are a bunch of ants on tour :) The show was pure joy since we were all happy just being to able to do the thing after so much stress.

Today we are in Essen, Germany, ..seems like no more than 50-60 people are showing up today,... a Tuesday is never overcrowded, but, what the hell, we are going to give them a hell of a show to remember us by!!

Ok, enough bullshit for now. More pictures will come later.

09.03.08: TOUR BLOG #1 - IN ROTTERDAM
The tour poster
Okay, first two days of the tour completed, what a great success so far!! Two completely sold out shows and lots of good feedback!

It started it Nurenberg where we were picked up by the guys from Dark Fortress. From here on we have been driving in two vans, Vulture Indutries and Helheim in one, and Dark Fortress in the other with alle the backline.

We are now in Rotterdam after a hell of a night, `No sleep till Rotterdam` this show should be called. We drover the whole night after the show in Aalen yesterday and are quite wasted today.

The shows done on a sunday in Rotterdam are always played early in the day,... quite strange, but that`s just how it is here :) Vulture starts at around 16.30 or so, and Helheim around 1730. But, ok, at least we can have some sleep before we drive to the ferry for England tomorrow.
